When the temperatures are lower than that, the return dampers should be closed and the OA dampers open. Economizers can fail because of a lack of cleanliness. There is a risk of malfunction if dirt accumulates on dampers, gears, linkage, or controls. The economizer can also malfunction if the exterior air filters are damaged or missing. Filter problems and dirt buildup may be avoided if correct maintenance procedures are followed.

 

Dirty Evaporator

 

The evaporator coil is the principal target of the air filter’s protective efforts. A dirty evaporator can be caused by clogged air filters, which enable air to flow through the filter and into your system. Airflow is impeded as dirt builds up on the coils’ surfaces.
